Tons of artists are releasing vinyl records for their fans now. Everyone from Metallica and Korn to David Bowie have made it clear that they want their band’s albums to come out in more formats than just CD and MP3. These artists now that it is important to have their music heard clearly on top-of-the line sound systems to make sure that every nuance of the songs are heard in crystal clear detail. Too many record labels these days were taking part in the loudness war, mixing and mastering songs in a way that digitally clipped and caused ear fatigue. It has been hoped by many audiophiles over the last few years that this needless loudness battle would soon end. With the rising popularity of vinyl records again, it seems as if that dream could quickly come true.
Even stores are beginning to carry albums on vinyl once again. It is hard for retail outlets to deny something that makes money. If more and more people catch on and begin to purchase these records again, it is possible that vinyl might even be reintroduced as the preferred physical method for obtaining music. Until then, we will simply have to take solace in the fact that vinyl is at least enjoying a new cult following.
